Tom Talks To...
James Morrison
His debut album "Undiscovered" was one of the biggest sellers of 2006. Now James Morrison returns with a new album, "Songs For You, Truths For Me", including a duet with Nelly Furtado and collaborations with some of the biggest writers and producers around. James came into my show before the release of his single "You Make It Real". Have a listen and find out how James is still a normal guy, unfazed by celebrity and spending his new money wisely.....
Boyzone
Ronan, Stephen, Mikey, Keith and Shane have buried any remaining hatchets, donned suits and are back again as Boyzone. They have a lot to celebrate, including an upcoming UK tour and a rejigged Greatest Hits album which includes several new songs. I chatted to all five members of the band and we looked back at Boyzone's earlier successes and the process that lead to them reforming. It's an interesting listen, as clearly not all of the band had kept in touch and there was still some unfinished business. Perhaps it was a bad day but sometimes it sounds as though some bits of their relationships still haven't been ironed out.....
Katy Perry
She kissed a girl. She liked it. But - folks! - she's not a lesbian! Her boyfriend is Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes and Katy is now a worldwide phenomenon with "I Kissed A Girl" hitting #1 in more countries than you could shake a cherry chapstick at. I caught up with a slightly tired Katy Perry in the middle of a UK promo blitz. We chat about the reaction to her single, how the UK "gets it" much more than the US, the making of her album "One Of The Boys" and the inspiration behind such songs as "Ur So Gay" and "Waking Up In Vegas". Oh, and whether she'll be a sex kitten again......
Kings Of Leon
US rockers Kings Of Leon have had an incredibly successful 2008 in the UK. Their single "Sex On Fire" was a #1 record for weeks and their fourth album "Only By The Night" also went straight in at the top spot. Flushed with success I caught up with brothers Jared and Nathan Followill who told me how much they love and appreciate their fans in the UK, how they avoid celebrity status and can't bear to listen to their early albums.
Sharleen Spiteri
Once the voice of Texas, now a solo singer in her own right, Sharleen Spiteri is celebrating the release of "Melody", her debut solo album. Sharleen came into the show to chat about her debut single "All The Times I Cried" and she explained how the end of a relationship inspired her new music. She talks about her musical influences and looks back at her years in Texas. Will Texas make another album? Have a listen and hear what Sharleen has to say....
